The top plate is about 6 inches the bottom plate is just under 3 inches. I have the same issue with one of my other desks. There is no room for the bottom part to grab the desk. I was wondering, do you know the dimensions of the mounting tongue? My desk has a limited amount of clearance on the back for the tongue to fit over. How deep is it?
